Manaus – what to do in the capital of Amazonas
Manaus stands out for its versatility of tours, which can be done on foot or aboard some boat. Arriving in Manaus and encountering the Historical Center with walks is really an enriching experience.
One of the most visited attractions, which is even the postcard of the city of Manaus, is the famous Meeting of the Waters. This attraction, in particular, is what most enchants visitors, because it is a natural phenomenon between two rivers that meet and do not mix. Near this environment it is possible to see some porpoises that are jumping up and down, which get applause from the visitors.
Next, the Teatro Amazonas appears as the most famous building in the city of Manaus, for containing much exuberance and beauty concentrated in only one place, resembling the standards of construction in Europe.
In addition, the city of Manaus has a variety of places, such as the beautiful beaches that are formed during the ebb season and attract many bathers from all corners of the city.
Beaches in Manaus
The main beaches around Manaus are Praia Dourada, Praia da Lua and Praia do Japonês. Praia Dourada receives many visitors precisely because it is surrounded by floats, which have great infrastructure, good cuisine, a very tropical sound and that make the atmosphere of the place even more Amazonian.
Praia da Lua is also one of the most famous beaches in the city, because it has a half-moon shape and has white sands and a smaller flow of people than Praia da Ponta Negra. It is one of the main meeting points for bathers in the city of Manaus.
Praia do Japonês is a much more private beach with little infrastructure, but it is worth a visit because of its natural landscape. The white sand and the river waters that surround this beach make the environment even more pleasant.
But if you really want to have another kind of adventure getting to know the flora up close, we can show you some of the best attractions, like the Amazon Museum (MUSA), also known as Botanical Garden.
The Castanho Waterfall is located near the village of Paricatuba, and is very well known and visited for being a place that has a beautiful landscape and great services.
Near the site there are some floats that also have a good infrastructure. It is even possible to see the harbour porpoises that are walking around the area, precisely because it is an area that they usually are.
Amazon Museum – MUSA
At the Amazon Museum it is possible to see the most famous plants of the Amazon, such as the Victoria Regia, which is a different plant from the others because it is submerged in water.
There it is also possible to make trails and watch the sunset from the MUSA Observation Tower, where it is possible to get a wonderful view of the trees and birds.
Forest of Science
Like the Amazon Museum, the Forest of Science or INPA – as it is popularly known – also offers visits where it is possible to get to know the fauna and flora. In this environment very similar to a zoo, it is possible to observe some species existing in our fauna, as well as the trees of the Amazon.
The INPA – Amazonian Research Institute is one of the most important fields of study in Brazil, because there are articles and researches about the existing species in this biome.
For those who are interested in history, perhaps the Seringal Museum can serve as an example for their visit.
Located near the Tarumã River, this is a space that reminds us of the time of the rubber golden period. In it it is possible to visit the process of rubber production until the latent difference between the way of life of the rubber tree.
During the flood season, the water floods the museum’s backyard, making it a beautiful landscape.
